What is Positive Reinforcement Dog Training?
Postive Reinforcement Dog Training, or R+, is the method of training a dog without using punishments or aversive techniques (techniques that cause pain, fear, or discomfort). Studies show dogs trained with this method have stronger bonds with their owners, more drive to train, less behavioral issues related to training methods, and better retention of lessons!

What is your education background?
I began training in 2020 under a Force Free Trainer in Santa Monica, and mentored under her student afterwards. I currently am continuing my learning under a balance trainer in Orange, and gained my Advance Dog Trainer title from Zoom Room in 2024 and AKC™ Evaluator Certification in 2025. I continue furthering my education through a variety of sources, including the IAABC Foundation, and will be taking my CPDT-KA test in 2025.

Do you have any restrictions on age/breed?
Trail Dog Training Co will take dogs of any age or breed, as long as they are physically well enough to participate in training and our services will be of help to them!
-
What do I need for training?
For your first session I always recommend high value treats, basic dog walking gear, and good shoes!
We do not train with prongs, e-collars, choke chains, or slip leads. Some good alternatives are front clip harnesses and gentle leaders! -
Do you do Boarding/ Dog Sitting?
At this time we do not offer Dog Boarding, but our Board and Train program will be launching March 2025!
Please inquire for recommendations for pet sitting and boarding.
-
Do you do Virtual Training for clients outside of the Lakewood/Long Beach area?
At this time I do not, but would be happy to recommend a trainer if I know one in your area!
We will be having online courses available for AKC™ Trick Dog levels Novice and Intermediate available in early 2025!
